Yeah, of course all people look at the exterior characteristics. It's natural because it's the first thing we notice. BUT the thing is that there are some people who don't pigeonhole people because of that - these are the people I like very much.
In my view you are one of them.

Yup, it's indeed natural to look at exterior charcteristics at first. Its the first thing one can see of another person and will partially define ones first reaction to another based on how that information got processed.

There are people indeed who look beyond looks and tend to go more for the inner than the outer stuff.
BUT i just get crazy of ALLLL the people who don't. That's where my conceptual photography is based on for a large part, sidewinding to even different in a way related topics too of course.

"Pigeonhole people"... wow...sounds fantastic but I have never heard of it !!
